Introducing: Mobile Punch Time Tracking App Version 5.1 with Facial Recognition

Mobile Time Tracking App with Facial Recognition

New Facial Recognition Technology Helps You Eliminate Time Theft

EPAY Systems continues to invest in our Mobile PunchTM time tracking application, as more companies look for ways to crack down on time theft and cut unnecessary labor expenses. We have released a new version of our time tracking mobile app, which includes cutting-edge facial recognition technology.

Mobile Punch version 5.1 provides a configurable option that allows for a foolproof two-factor authentication process using facial recognition technology in addition to a user’s login credentials.

Authenticating users with facial recognition technology helps eliminate buddy punching by ensuring the right employee is clocking in and out for work. This increased time tracking accuracy can save companies from paying employees for time that has not actually been worked.

About the Facial Recognition Feature

The new face recognition feature in Mobile Punch matches a person’s unique facial characteristics for the purposes of identification or authentication. Utilizing a smartphone’s camera, the new face recognition feature detects faces in images, quantifies their features, and then matches them against the stored templates in the database.

How Face Recognition in Mobile Punch 5.1 Works

After an employee logs in to the Mobile Punch time tracking app, they will be prompted to go through the facial registration process. This involves capturing the employee’s photo three times and saving the images within the app. Upon successful registration, the app will generate one or more minutia files (or templates); then the employee will be navigated to the home screen where they can complete their clock in or out process.

In cases where registration is unsuccessful, the employee will be navigated to the home screen with restricted access to the menu options. The app will then report a failed registration process in EPAY Time and Labor.

After a successful login and registration, an employee’s minutiae will be downloaded to the app. The downloaded employee minutiae file is cached locally to be used for future login attempts and also in offline mode.

Upon future login attempts, the employee will be prompted to go through the facial verification process after logging in with their username and password. On successful facial verification, the employee will be navigated to the home screen to complete the clock in/out process.
