Michelle Lanter Smith
President, Mid-Market and Enterprise Direct
Michelle Lanter Smith is responsible for setting the business strategy of the Mid-market and Enterprise Direct business unit. This includes overseeing sales, operations, new account implementation, ongoing account management and service delivery.
Michelle, who has more than 25+ years of leadership experience driving revenue growth for high tech and service-driven firms, was instrumental in ensuring EPAY’s successful acquisition by PrismHR.
Previously, Michelle served as EPAY’s Chief Marketing Officer. In addition to directing EPAY’s go-to-market strategy, she was responsible for the company’s customer success, technical and payroll support operations, and product management.
During her tenure, EPAY grew 20% year over year, maintained a 98% customer retention rate, and garnered numerous awards, including recent G2 Best Software Awards for Momentum Leader, Best Usability, Best Support, and Most Implementable Enterprise.
Prior to joining EPAY in 2012, Michelle served as CEO of Hi-Impact Marketing & Sales Solutions, an integrated marketing and sales strategy firm. Her clients included Walgreens, American Family Insurance, Coca-Cola, and YWCA. She also spent 11 years at IBM in sales and marketing, earning IBM’s Distinguished Marketing Momentum award. She pioneered IBM’s integrated marketing program, which targeted SMB and Fortune 500 companies to advance IBM into the retail and distribution industries. Because of its impact on IBM’s segment growth, her program was later integrated into Northwestern University’s School of Medill’s curriculum.
Michelle graduated summa cum laude from Marquette University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Finance. She holds a Masters of Business Administration with distinction from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management
Michelle has received the Influential Women in Business Award from NAWBO, Top 100 Under 50 recognition from Diversity MBA Magazine, and 300+ Women in HR Technology Worth Watching from Recruiting Daily. Recently, she was awarded the 10 Leading Businesswomen Moving Beyond Excellence award by Beyond Exclamation, a media company that recognizes outstanding leadership.
