Chief Executive Officer
Frank Ruffolo is the Chief Executive Officer of EPAY Systems. Under his leadership, EPAY has quickly become one of the leading cloud based time and attendance providers for employers with a distributed workforce.
Since joining EPAY in 2009, Frank has continued his 20+ year track record of successfully executing transformation strategies for technology companies, leading EPAY into double-digit revenue growth in his first year alone.
Prior to joining EPAY, Frank served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for CIMCO Communications, where he drove revenue growth more than 3x the industry average. Before joining CIMCO Communications, Frank played a crucial role in rapidly transforming InterCall from a $10 million web conferencing company to a $250 million communications powerhouse. He also served as Vice President of Sales for CareerBuilder.com and ePredix, a global provider of software assessment tools.
Frank earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Elmhurst College and his Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Chief Operating Officer
Jay Kalantar serves as Chief Operating Officer of EPAY Systems. The driving force behind delivering effective customer solutions, Jay is responsible for influencing the development and overseeing the implementation of EPAY’s technology.
Since joining EPAY in 2003, Jay has helped refine our solutions to meet the evolving needs of the marketplace, while providing clients with transformational strategies to optimize their workforce management processes.
Jay brings EPAY 20+ years of experience in operations management, systems development and deployment, and strategic integration. He previously held leadership roles in process engineering and business development at JohnsonDiversey, formerly Johnson Wax Professional, one of the world’s largest suppliers to the building services and hospitality industries. He also worked at the Pillsbury Company as Operations Research Scientist, where he designed and implemented award-winning supply-chain and capacity planning applications.
Jay earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University. He also holds multiple patents.
Chief Financial Officer
Doug Olds is the Chief Financial Officer of EPAY Systems, responsible for overseeing all financial matters and ensuring balance between the company’s strategic, operational and financial objectives.
Prior to joining EPAY, Doug was the CFO for InnLink, LLC, a SaaS central reservation service (CRS) that served over 3,500 hotels and operated a 24/7 call center. Doug brings a unique mix of finance and operational experience to EPAY including over nine years in investment banking, completing transactions up to $285 million in value. He also founded and served as CFO for a private equity-backed food manufacturing, distribution and marketing company.
Doug earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Michigan and his Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Chief Information Officer
Rick Labus is the Chief Information Officer of EPAY Systems, responsible for overseeing all aspects of EPAY’s information technology, including software development, QA, and systems infrastructure. Rick brings EPAY 20+ years of IT management and development experience.
Before joining EPAY, Rick was the IT Manager at CIMCO Communications, a leader in the field of voice and data technology solutions. At CIMCO, he was recognized with a President’s Club Award for his leadership on systems-related initiatives, including the development and implementation of the company’s CRM and contract management systems.
Prior to CIMCO, Rick served as Manager of Information Systems at GoIn Realty, Inc., where he lead the company’s transition from Cold Fusion development to Microsoft .NET.
Rick has also held senior web development, systems analyst and programming roles at companies including Griffith Laboratories, United States Cellular, University Healthsystem Consortium and Related Payroll Services.
Rick earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University. He holds a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
Chief Marketing Officer
Michelle Lanter Smith
Michelle Lanter Smith is the Chief Marketing Officer of EPAY Systems, where she oversees the company’s go-to-market strategy, customer success and technical support operations. Michelle brings 20+ years of leadership experience in driving revenue growth for high tech and service-driven firms.
Prior to joining EPAY, Michelle served as CEO of Hi-Impact Marketing & Sales Solutions, an integrated marketing and strategy firm. There, she built experiential marketing programs for companies including Walgreens, American Family Insurance, Coca-Cola and YWCA.
Michelle also spent 11 years at IBM Corporation, where she built and managed marketing plans and campaigns for IBM’s offerings. Her work targeting Fortune 500 clients such as McDonalds closed $40M in business and built IBM’s market share from 0% to 24% in just two years, earning IBM’s Distinguished Marketing Momentum award.
Michelle graduated summa cum laude from Marquette University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Finance. She holds a Masters of Business Administration with distinction from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management
Michelle also received the ‘Influential Women in Business Award’ from NAWBO, ‘Top 100 Under 50′ recognition from Diversity MBA Magazine and the '300+ Women In HR Technology Worth Watching' from Recruiting Daily.
VP of Sales
David L. Farrell
David L. Farrell is the Vice President of Sales of EPAY Systems, responsible for the company’s sales operations. David brings a 17+ year track record of successful sales management and has proven himself as an industry leader in the workforce management and human capital management sector.
Prior to joining EPAY, David served as Sales Executive for Kronos where he was responsible for net new revenue growth in the Midwest region.
Before joining Kronos, David was a Regional Sales Director at Paycor Inc. leading sales teams in both small and major markets. The sales methodology and process his team employed resulted in 333% increase in revenue for his sales teams. He also held multiple positions at Paychex ranging from small business consultant, small business sales leader, to an enterprise sales role.
David prides himself on his ability to focus on strategy and sales process to turn sales teams into high producing lines of business.
David earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Millikin University.
VP of Channel Sales & Strategic Partnerships
Remy Piazza is the VP of Global Channel Sales & Strategic Partnerships of EPAY Systems, responsible for extending the company’s market reach through new sales channels and strategic partnerships. Remy brings a successful track record of revenue growth in the technology sector.
Prior to joining EPAY, Remy served as Sr. Sales Director for TELUS, a leading Canadian telecommunications company with nearly $10 billion in revenues. As founding Managing Director at CareerBuilder Canada, he spearheaded the start-up phase of the company’s Canadian division, rapidly growing a two-person sales team into a multi-million dollar, national competitor.
Remy has also held sales leadership positions in tech companies posting triple digit growth including TANDBERG and InterCall. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor Relations from McMaster University.
